Refresh2012

Refresh2012 is what the Church in Weymouth and Portland is doing in response to the arrival of the sailing event of London 2012.

It is a programme running from the beginning of the Games (July 27) and finishing at the end of the Paralympic Sailing (September 9). During that time, teams from across the country and around the world gather to boost the local guys in delivering their vision. In Weymouth and Portland we believe that Jesus is good news and that the church is here to be refreshing and uplifting. YWAM are playing a key role in developing teams from various nations to complement what is happening locally.

The opportunities for volunteers are endless: from 24/7 prayer and worship teams to foot masseurs, electricians, drivers and youth workers, we see a place for people with virtually any gift to shine for Jesus! Volunteers who feel youthful enough will be able to camp on our teamrefresh village for a modest £30 per pitch. They will enjoy free parking and easy access on foot to where all the action is taking place.

During the August Bank Holiday weekend, Weymouth and Portland Council have kindly given us the use of the main beach area where we are staging a big festival running from Thursday August 23 to Monday August 27. We will have a large stage on the beach featuring all kinds of musical and circus acts, children's programmes and special guest Andrew Palau. The YWAM Ketch, the s/y Next Wave, will be moored in pride of place on the Pavilion pier, hosting groups of young people as a venue with a big difference.
