Forever launches online 24/7 prayer calendar for the UK in 2012

Forever, the Youth With A Mission (YWAM) ministry coordinating outreaches during the season of the 2012 Olympic Games, has announced the launch of brick by brick, an online prayer calendar that enables you to pray for the United Kingdom in 2012. “2012 is a crucial year for the UK,” says Yan Nicholls, Forever team leader. “The UK is hosting the Olympics. The world is coming to these shores. Communities up and down the country are engaging in the Games. It’s a wonderful opportunity for the Church to show the love of Jesus to the assembled masses.”

Yan continues: “But all our efforts are worthless without prayer. So we are creating different ways for people to pray for the UK and the outreaches. brick by brick is one of these ways.”

brick by brick provides a simple procedure for getting involved and praying anytime in 2012. All you have to do is register once, and then after that you can sign in whenever you want and pick your prayer times across the months. On the brick by brick website there will be constant prayer updates – both emergency prayer needs and prayer topics for the day or month. Also, there is a prayer wall where those who are praying can write their thoughts and prayers.

“This is such an exciting moment,” says Hayley Bullen, Prayer Coordinator for the Forever team. “For all that we are trying to do next year, in terms of the Olympic outreach – none of it matters if we are not seeking God, being faithfully obedient to what He’s saying and bathing the whole event and year in prayer. This is the call to the whole of YWAM and the Church to join together in prayer for the UK in this Olympic year.”

brick by brick is a tool to enable people to join together to cover every minute, every hour and every day of 2012 in prayer. “This is not something I can do by myself!” says Hayley. “Praying 24/7 throughout 2012 will only happen as many people work together to cover the time. Actually, it’s only 8,784 hours in the whole year, which doesn’t sound so much!”

As well as brick by brick, Hayley and her team have been busy uploading lots of resources to help people pray for the UK in 2012. Some of these include a monthly prayer sheet with daily prayer topics, online maps for prayer-walking, and relevant books and articles on both prayer and on Olympic locations.
